Softball Game Preview: Dover Eagles vs. Eastern York Golden Knights

The Dover Eagles will square off against the Eastern York Golden Knights at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

On Thursday, Dover didn't have quite enough to beat West York Area and fell 3-2. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Eastern York fell victim to Kennard-Dale and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rams. The loss continues a trend for the Golden Knights in their meetings with the Rams: they've now lost six in a row.

Lauren Stiffler spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on nine hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

Dover now has a losing record of 8-9. As for Eastern York, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-8-1.

Dover came out on top in a nail-biter against Eastern York when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 7-6. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Golden Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
