Basketball Recap: Elkhart Lions vs. La Porte Slicers

Elkhart lost against La Porte back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Elkhart Lions took a 65-47 bruising from the La Porte Slicers. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 264th, while the Slicers are ranked 105th).

La Porte's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nic Spence, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 boards. That's the most rebounds Spence has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Griffin Ott-Large, who posted 18 points and six rebounds.

Elkhart dropped their record down to 2-7 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. As for La Porte, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.
