Softball Recap: Little Falls Flyers vs. Willmar Cardinals
Little Falls was the 12-2 winner over Willmar when they last played one another back in May of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Little Falls Flyers took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Willmar Cardinals on Friday.
For Willmar's part, Grace Etterman made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Etterman has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive pitching appearances. Etterman was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, Willmar got a massive performance out of Isley Ripperger, who went 1-for-3 with a home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Ripperger is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Zadina Butcher, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3.
Little Falls' loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Willmar, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-21.
