Baseball Recap: Prout Comes Up Short

Prout was the 9-2 winner over Ponaganset when they last played one another back in April of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Crusaders took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Chieftains on Friday.

Cam Randall was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He pitched five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Randall was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Randall wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Nowell, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. That stolen base was Nowell's first of the season. Reid Klug was another, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Prout's record now sits at 7-9. As for Ponaganset, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-10.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Prout is set to face off against their familiar foe Chariho at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Ponaganset will take on rival Rogers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
