Softball Recap: Edon Sets Scoring Season-High Against Gorham Fayette

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Edon). They put the hurt on the Gorham Fayette Eagles with a sharp 24-5 win on Monday. The Bombers haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Makayla Anspaugh made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Kaylynn Bartlett and Nevaeh Smith did most of the damage at the plate: Bartlett went 2-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and three RBI, while Smith got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three RBI gave Bartlett a new career-high. Allyson Derck was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Edon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matches they've averaged 9.4.

Edon's win bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Gorham Fayette, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-10.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Edon is set to take on their familiar foe Stryker at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Gorham Fayette will square off against rival Pettisville at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
