Soccer Game Preview: Guyer vs. Marcus

The Guyer Wildcats will head out to challenge the Marcus Marauders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Guyer is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Hebron just ended the team's seven-match winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 1-0. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Guyer came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Hebron are ranked 41st).

Meanwhile, Marcus entered their tilt with Braswell on Thursday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Bengals. Marcus' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last six matchups.

Marcus' win bumped their record up to 8-2-2. As for Guyer, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-2.

Guyer beat Marcus by a goal in their previous meeting back in February of 2025, winning 1-0. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Marauders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
