Baseball Recap: Middletown Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Middletown entered their tilt with Steelton-Highspire on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Steamrollers a 17-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Blue Raiders, who have now won three matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Mason Stiffler made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jacob Miller was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. He also launched a home run, marking his first of the season. Landon Cochran was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.

Middletown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Steelton-Highspire only managed three hits.

Middletown's record is now 6-3. As for Steelton-Highspire, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Middletown will square off against Eastern York at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Steelton-Highspire, they will challenge La Academia Charter at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
