Baseball Recap: Wakefield Takes a Loss

If Wakefield was riding high fresh off their 19-2 takedown of Thomas Jefferson Science & Technology last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Warriors took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Meridian Mustangs on Wednesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 6-3 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Wakefield saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sawyer Buchanan, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. That stolen base was Buchanan's first of the season.

Wakefield has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Meridian, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-9.

Wakefield does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Meridian, they will take on Skyline at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
