Softball Preview: Waterville Indians vs. Hamilton Emerald Knights
The Waterville Indians will head out on the road to challenge the Hamilton Emerald Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Waterville is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Oriskany just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Monday. They lost 18-1 to the Redskins. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, Waterville couldn't push the score so high this time.
Meanwhile, Hamilton had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Town of Webb 20-5. Hamilton might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won four games by 11 runs or more this season.
Isadora Catania made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. Catania was even better at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Maggie Jackson was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs. Sicily Catania was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Waterville's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Hamilton, they now have a winning record of 6-5.
