Football Game Preview: Gonzales Apaches vs. Smithville Tigers

Gonzales is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Friday. They will head out to challenge the Smithville Tigers at 7:30 p.m. Gonzales is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.

Last Friday, Gonzales got the win against Pleasanton by a conclusive 35-9. The contest marked the Apaches' most dominant win of the season so far.

Meanwhile, Smithville played a tough matchup on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Jarrell 56-14. The Tigers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-0.

Gonzales' victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Smithville, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

Everything came up roses for Gonzales against Smithville in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 48-12 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Apaches since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
