Soccer Game Preview: St. Augustine vs. Clay

St. Augustine hasn't had much luck against Clay recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Yellow Jackets will head out to face off against the Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

St. Augustine took a four-goal loss the last time they faced off against Sandalwood, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Yellow Jackets had just enough and edged out the Saints 2-1. The score was all tied up 1-1 at the break, but St. Augustine were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last matchup, Clay made sure to put some goals up on the board against Maclay on Friday. They blew past the Marauders 4-0. Considering Clay's offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

The victory made it two in a row for Clay and bumps their season record up to 2-1. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those two contests. As for St. Augustine, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

St. Augustine couldn't quite get it done against Clay when the teams last played back in December of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Yellow Jackets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
