Basketball Game Preview: Warden Cougars vs. Mabton Vikings

Warden and Mabton are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2016, but not for long. The Warden Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mabton Vikings at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Warden has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

Warden took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Granger 54-26. The win was some much needed relief for the Cougars as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, after a string of 15 wins, Mabton's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell just short of Columbia by a score of 55-52. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Vikings have suffered since December 13, 2024.

Mabton's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 17-2. As for Warden, their victory bumped their record up to 4-14.
