Softball Recap: South Newton Comes Up Short

After flying high against Frontier on Thursday, South Newton came back down to earth. The Rebels came up short against the North White Vikings on Friday, falling 9-2. The Rebels have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Briley Iseminger spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and eight unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 15 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, South Newton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kimber Cruz, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Another was Cora Groover, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

South Newton's defeat dropped their record down to 8-10. As for North White, they pushed their record up to 11-10 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road.
