Baseball Recap: West Port Comes Up Short

West Port was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They lost 13-6 to the Belleview Rattlers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rattlers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-3 last Tuesday.

West Port got a good showing from Mason Tidwell, who tossed 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Tidwell posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.

West Port's defeat dropped their record down to 1-11. As for Belleview, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Port will venture away from home to square off against Lake Weir at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Port has given up an average of 11.1 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Belleview, they are taking a road trip to challenge Vanguard at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
