The Pascagoula Panthers will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Biloxi Indians at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
It was a proper cat-fight when Pascagoula faced off against Moss Point on Thursday. Pascagoula put the hurt on Moss Point with a sharp 18-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won five in a row.
Ke'Asjah Moore and Ty'Mia Bell did most of the damage at the plate: Moore went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs, while Bell scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. What's more, Bell posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Anneleese Rabon, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Pascagoula kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now hit at least nine hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Biloxi, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They never let Pass Christian get on the board and left with a 3-0 win on Saturday. While the Indians didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Biloxi's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kylie Mckay, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Mckay also hit a double, marking her first of the season.
Biloxi's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs over those games. As for Pascagoula, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.
Monday's game will be a test for both team's pitchers. Pascagoula hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having hit 0 of their hits per game. However, it's not like Biloxi struggles in that department as they've hit 0 of their hits this season. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
