Basketball Recap: Sanford Comes Up Short

Sanford lost against Cheverus back in December of 2018 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Sanford Spartans took an 83-68 bruising from the Cheverus Stags. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 58th, while the Stags are ranked tenth).

Sanford has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season. As for Cheverus, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sanford will host Kennebunk at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cheverus, they will be playing at home against Oxford Hills at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
