It's playoff time, and Saugus had no trouble coming through when it counted. They had just enough and edged out the Brea Olinda Wildcats 2-1 on Thursday. The win was familiar territory for the Centurions, who have now won four contests in a row.

Riley Nelson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Nicole Specht, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.

Saugus hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.

Saugus' victory bumped their record up to 20-8. As for Brea Olinda, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 15-13 record this season.
