Basketball Game Preview: Meadowbrook Academy Mustangs vs. Trinity Catholic Celtics

The Meadowbrook Academy Mustangs will face off against the Trinity Catholic Celtics at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meadowbrook Academy has given up an average of 57.2 points per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Tuesday, Meadowbrook Academy needed a bit of extra time to put away Hernando. They came out on top against the Leopards by a score of 65-56. The score was all tied up 24-24 at the break, but the Mustangs were the better team in the second half.

Meadowbrook Academy can attribute much of their success to Graidy Hughes, who went 10-for-20 to rack up 24 points along with eight boards and seven steals, and Gaige Daugherty, who dropped a double-double with 23 points and ten rebounds. The Mustangs are undefeated when Hughes posts five or more steals, but 1-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Orion Grayer, who posted eight points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Meadowbrook Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. They are 2-1 when they hit their own glass that hard.

Meanwhile, Trinity Catholic earned a 52-40 win over St. Joseph Academy on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Celtics have won by exactly 12 points.

The victory got Meadowbrook Academy back to even at 4-4. As for Trinity Catholic, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-2.
