Basketball Recap: Canton Comes Up Short

If Canton was riding high fresh off their 58-38 takedown of Brownsboro last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Canton Eagles were dealt a 68-40 loss at the hands of the Kennedale Wildcats on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 532nd, while the Wildcats are ranked 99th).

Canton's defeat dropped their record down to 16-15. As for Kennedale, the win was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 27-7.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Canton will square off against Gilmer at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kennedale, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Wildcats challenge the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Lincoln's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 16 contests.
