Basketball Recap: Jefferson's Win Ends 11-Game Losing Streak on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Glenbard North, Jefferson was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Rockford East E-Rabs 60-14. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the J-Hawks have posted since January 26, 2024.

Jefferson was led to victory by Abbie Bracius and Alanna Morehead. Bracius posted 25 points, while Morehead earned 21 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Bracius has scored at least a third of Jefferson's points.

Rockford East's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Promise Crawford, who scored six points. That was a full 42.9% of Rockford East's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points.

Jefferson's victory ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-24. As for Rockford East, they dropped their record down to 2-25 with the loss, which was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season.

Jefferson will welcome Rockford Auburn at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Rockford East, they are taking a road trip to take on Harlem at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Rockford East is facing Harlem at the right time seeing as Harlem is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
