Preview: Fernley Vaqueros vs. Lowry Buckaroos

The Fernley Vaqueros will stay at home for another game and welcome the Lowry Buckaroos at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Fernley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Wednesday.

Fernley stacked a 12th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard. They breezed by Churchill County at home to the tune of 68-38. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Fernley has posted since December 15, 2023.

Anthony Winters was his usual excellent self, scoring 21 points along with eight assists and four steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Sheldon Jacobson, who scored 13 points along with two blocks.

Meanwhile, Lowry's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They fell to Dayton 48-43.

Fernley pushed their record up to 17-2 with that victory, which was their 14th straight at home. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 27.57 points. As for Lowry, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-9 record this season.

Fernley strolled past Lowry when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a score of 67-53. Will Fernley repeat their success, or does Lowry have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
