Softball Game Preview: Red Lion Lions vs. New Oxford Colonials

Red Lion is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Friday. They will challenge the New Oxford Colonials at 4:15 p.m. Red Lion will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

Red Lion's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 15-0 margin over Muhlenberg. Considering the Lions have won three matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, New Oxford scored first but ultimately less than Waynesboro in their contest on Wednesday. They fell 11-6 to the Indians. The Colonials have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Ellie Diehl was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Maura Shirk also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Red Lion's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 8.5 runs. As for New Oxford, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Red Lion couldn't quite finish off New Oxford when the teams last played back in April of 2023 and fell 8-6. Can Red Lion avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
