Basketball Game Preview: Gold Beach Panthers vs. Reedsport

The Gold Beach Panthers will head out on the road to challenge Reedsport at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gold Beach has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

It was a proper cat-fight when Gold Beach took on Illinois Valley on Friday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, Gold Beach made off with a 42-41 win over Illinois Valley. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Panthers as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, Reedsport was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were beaten by Myrtle Point 67-18. While losing is never fun, Reedsport can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while Myrtle Point is ranked 106th).

Gold Beach's win ended a 12-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-9. As for Reedsport, their loss dropped their record down to 1-13.

Gold Beach suffered a grim 42-20 defeat to Reedsport in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Gold Beach avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
