Derby hadn't done well against Hutchinson recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Panthers skirted past the Salthawks 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Panthers have posted since September 2nd.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Derby who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 25-19, 21-25, 26-24.

The win made it two in a row for Derby and bumps their season record up to 7-8. As for Hutchinson, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-6.

Derby has already played their next contest, a 2-1 victory against Valley Center on the 20th. As for Hutchinson, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Newton on the 20th.
