Baseball Recap: Lake Wales Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Lake Wales posted their closest win since March 6th on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Winter Haven Blue Devils by a score of 2-1 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-2 back in February.

Max Seidl spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Lake Wales is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 8-10 otherwise.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Carter Finnell, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Lake Wales: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three hits, but 7-11 otherwise. Landon David also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Lake Wales hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

With the victory, Lake Wales broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 10-11. As for Winter Haven, they dropped their record down to 9-13 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Lake Wales wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 9-8 loss against Santa Fe Catholic on the 3rd. As for Winter Haven, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 7-5 defeat against Lakeland on the 7th.
