Football Game Preview: Garfield G-Men vs. Crestview Rebels

Garfield is on an eight-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while Crestview is on an eight-game streak of away wins (also dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The G-Men will host the Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Garfield had to skate by with only a one-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 56-point drubbing they dealt Newton Falls on Friday. The G-Men took their matchup with ease, bagging a 56-0 victory over the Tigers. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the G-Men's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while the Tigers are ranked 688th).

Michael Hayhurst went supernova, rushing for 90 yards and one touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Garfield was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 436 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Newton Falls only rushed for 72.

Meanwhile, Crestview blew past Champion, posting a 53-8 win.

Garfield better keep an eye on Jake Noling. He was instrumental in Crestview's win, rushing for 107 yards and one TD on only 11 carries, while also throwing for 175 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. Wyatt Hart was another key back, rushing for 79 yards and a pair of scores on only five carries.

Crestview's victory bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Garfield, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.

Garfield won a game that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, slipping by Crestview 23-22. Will the G-Men repeat their success, or do the Rebels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
