Basketball Recap: Wichita Defenders Homeschool Finds Home Court Redemption Against Christ Prep Academy

There's no place like home for Wichita Defenders HomeSchool, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Christ Prep Academy Patriots 55-52. Given the Defenders' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 144th, while the Patriots are ranked 331st), the result on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.

When it comes to explaining why Christ Prep Academy lost, don't look at Abby Theiss. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. Theiss also posted six blocks, which is notable because Christ Prep Academy is undefeated when she posts at least three blocks, but 3-4 otherwise. Ella Smith was another key player, putting up four points in addition to six assists and five boards.
