Football Recap: Crescent City's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Crescent City fought the good fight in their overtime match against Matanzas on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 12-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pirates. The Raiders gained 117 more yards on the day, but it was the Pirates that made the best use of them.

Despite the defeat, Crescent City saw an underclassman step up: sophomore T'Meriya Johnson rushed for 56 yards and one score.

The loss snapped Crescent City's winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-3 record. As for Matanzas, they pushed their record up to 6-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Crescent City will welcome St. John Lutheran at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Matanzas, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Florida School for the Deaf & Blind at 6:00 p.m. The Dragons' defense has only allowed 12.3 points per game this season, so the Pirates' offense will have their work cut out for them.
