Softball Recap: Waverly Comes Up Short

Waverly extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 5-10 in the process. They lost 11-0 to the Chillicothe Cavaliers. The game marked the first time this year in which the Tigers were not able to get on the board.

As for Chillicothe, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 13-4. Considering they have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

For Chillicothe's part, Cambriana Rittinger was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 15 over six innings pitched. Rittinger has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, S Wade was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Cadie Boltenhouse, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Waverly will face off against Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers are facing the Indians at the right time seeing as the Indians are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Chillicothe, they will challenge Jackson at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
