Clayton takes loss despite strong efforts from Andrew Grimes and Justice Mitchell

Recap: Clayton Comets vs. United Faith Christian Academy Falcons

After a string of six wins, the Clayton Comets's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell to United Faith Christian Academy 72-68. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Justice Mitchell and Andrew Grimes certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Mitchell shot 5-for-8 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds, while Grimes dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Grimes is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. Qua'shaun Williams was another key contributor, scoring eight points.

Clayton's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for United Faith Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clayton will take on Corinth Holders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Corinth Holders is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. As for United Faith Christian Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against North Hills Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Hills Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 310th, while United Faith Christian Academy is ranked 22nd).
