Softball Recap: Rio Grande Takes a Loss

After flying high against Jemez Valley on Thursday, Rio Grande came back down to earth. The Ravens fell just short of the West Mesa Mustangs by a score of 8-7 on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, with their most recent defeat being a 11-5 loss back in April.

Mercedes Valenzuela led a balanced group of hitters, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Peralta, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double.

Rio Grande's defeat dropped their record down to 14-12. As for West Mesa, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-13 record.

As of now, neither Rio Grande nor the Mustangs have any future games scheduled.
