Walden Grove dropped down to 4-3 on Friday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They fell 20-14 to the Mica Mountain Thunderbolts. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Red Wolves of the 16-6 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2024.

Although Walden Grove took the loss, they still got scores from Jordan Dobson and Dominic Sanchez.

Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 3.2 yards per carry. The team can thank Miguel Aboyte for the heroic effort on defense: he. Walden Grove hasn't allowed more than four yards per carry in three consecutive games.

Walden Grove's defense didn't let Jaidyn Crist, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for six sacks. Leading the way was Trey Forbregd with 2.5.

As for Mica Mountain, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.7 points on average over those games.

Colin Axford was the offensive standout of the matchup as he rushed for 37 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 31 receiving yards.
