Basketball Game Preview: El Campo Ricebirds vs. Needville Bluejays

The El Campo Ricebirds will head out on the road to take on the Needville Bluejays at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

El Campo saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell 51-39 to Sealy.

Meanwhile, Needville didn't have quite enough to beat Bishop on Saturday and fell 59-57.

El Campo will have to keep a close watch on Jaydon Ortiz and Bohdan Zeitz, a pair of players who had a big impact on Needville's prior game. Ortiz went 11 for 15 on his way to 27 points and five rebounds, while Zeitz dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Those 27 points gave Ortiz a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jamarkus Jack, who posted two points and five assists.

El Campo's defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Needville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

El Campo came up short against Needville when the teams last played back in January, falling 42-29. Can El Campo avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
