Baseball Recap: Lee Christian Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Lee Christian made up a huge gap compared to their last game against New Life Christian Academy, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 23-8 margin over the Warriors on Thursday. With that win, the Falcons brought their scoring average up to 7.8 runs per game.

Kaydan Brower made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out 12 batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Brower was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. He is becoming a predictor of Lee Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-5 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Lee Christian let Patrick Grant and Jordan Wilson run wild. Grant went 5-for-6 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Wilson scored five runs and stole two bases while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances. Wilson has become a key player for Lee Christian: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Jeivani Victorero, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Lee Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive games.

Lee Christian's victory ended an eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5. As for New Life Christian Academy, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight at home.

Lee Christian didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, an 8-5 loss against Sandhills Classical Christian on the 4th. As for New Life Christian Academy, they will square off against Southside Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. New Life Christian Academy is facing Southside Christian at the right time seeing as Southside Christian is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
