Softball Recap: Illinois Lutheran's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Illinois Lutheran's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 14-6 margin over the Michigan Lutheran Titans. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

Lola Spada spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on 14 hits. She also set a new season-high mark in stolen bases with four.

On the hitting side, Emma Nagle was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Azaylia Sanchez, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Illinois Lutheran kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March.

With the victory, Illinois Lutheran broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 12-12. As for Michigan Lutheran, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

Illinois Lutheran will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Titans: the pair will be back at it again later today.
