Baseball Recap: Morris Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Morris ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Monroe Campus 3-2. This was payback for the Bulldogs, who suffered a 6-5 loss the last time these two teams met.

Esmil Collado looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk).

On the hitting side, Elvis Roa was incredible, going 3-for-5 with one home run and two RBI. Gustabo Soto was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Morris pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Monroe Campus, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Morris will have a chance to go back-to-back against Monroe Campus: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
