Basketball Game Preview: Economedes Jaguars vs. San Perlita Trojans

The Economedes Jaguars will venture away from home to square off against the San Perlita Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

It was a proper cat-fight when Economedes took on Edinburg North on Friday. Economedes received a blow as they fell 64-49 to Edinburg North. The Jaguars have struggled against the Cougars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Economedes might have lost, but man, Nathaniel De La Garza was a machine: he went 9 for 15 on his way to 25 points. De La Garza is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Jesse Medrano was another key player, going 5 for 10 on his way to 10 points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, San Perlita played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 94-57 loss at the hands of Edinburg North. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1013th, while the Cougars are ranked 317th).

Economedes' record now sits at 11-8. As for San Perlita, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.

Economedes barely slipped by San Perlita in their previous meeting back in January, winning 40-39. Does Economedes have another victory up their sleeve, or will San Perlita turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
