Basketball Recap: Mountain Vista Comes Up Short

Mountain Vista played a tough game on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They came up short against the Regis Jesuit Raiders, falling 74-52. The Golden Eagles have struggled against the Raiders recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Mountain Vista still got an impressive performance from Kennedy Spellman, who went 9-for-21 to rack up 24 points in addition to six boards and four steals. That was a full 46.2% of Mountain Vista's points, marking the fourth time in a row Spellman has posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiarra Spellman, who had nine points and four steals.

It was another big night for Jane Rumpf, who went 10-for-17 en route to 25 points along with seven rebounds and five blocks for Regis Jesuit. Rumpf continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Iliana Greene was another key player, going 5-for-7 on her way to 17 points.

Mountain Vista's loss dropped their record down to 12-8. As for Regis Jesuit, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-6.

Mountain Vista didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 55-49 win against ThunderRidge on the 14th. As for Regis Jesuit, they will welcome Heritage at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
