Volleyball Recap: Calvert Beats St. Mary Central Catholic for Their 19th Straight Win

Calvert put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the St. Mary Central Catholic Panthers. That's more bragging rights for the Senecas, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Calvert was: they took every set by at least 15 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-10, 25-10, 25-4.

Calvert's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Claire Schoenberger, who had eight digs and three aces. Schoenberger has been hot recently, having posted two or more aces the last four times she's played. Scarlett Faber also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Calvert was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 18 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in 17 consecutive matchups.

Calvert's record is now 19-0. As for St. Mary Central Catholic, their loss ended a four-match streak of away wins and brought them to 6-15.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calvert will host Liberty-Benton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Mary Central Catholic, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Woodmore at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
