Baseball Recap: Edisto Has No Trouble Against Williston-Elko

Edisto barely beat Williston-Elko the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Edisto put the hurt on Williston-Elko with a sharp 13-3 win on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Cougars, who have now won four contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

Blake Hall spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bennie Ulmer, who scored four runs and stole three bases while going 5-for-5. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Max Dempsey was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

Edisto's victory bumped their record up to 7-3. As for Williston-Elko, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Looking ahead, Edisto will face off against Bridges Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Williston-Elko, they will challenge Barnwell at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Barnwell's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Williston-Elko's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
