Soccer Recap: Garner Comes Up Short

While it was all tied up 2-2 at halftime, Garner was not quite Pinecrest's equal in the second half on Friday. They fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 3-2. While losing is never fun, Garner can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 282nd, while Pinecrest are ranked 87th).

Danica Stoltz and Ashley Perez Jimenez scored both of Garner's goals, bringing their combined season tally to three goals.

Garner's loss dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Pinecrest, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5-1 record this season.

Garner will be playing in front of their home fans against Southeast Raleigh at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Pinecrest, they will head out on the road to face off against Hoke County at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
