Basketball Recap: Newfane Takes a Loss

After flying high against Starpoint last Wednesday, Newfane came back down to earth. The Panthers took a 51-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wilson Lakemen on Tuesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Lakemen: they've now lost three in a row.

Loss or not, Newfane got some senior leadership from Isaac Zachery and Kasey Wheat. Zachery posted nine points along with eight steals and five rebounds, while Wheat went 5-for-10 on his way to 13 points and six boards. Wheat is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 46% in the last five games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Mac Capen, who put up five points and six rebounds.

Newfane's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Wilson, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.
