Basketball Game Preview: Westminster Lions vs. Rancho Alamitos Vaqueros

The Westminster Lions and the Rancho Alamitos Vaqueros will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Westminster saw some tournament action on Friday. They had to suffer through a 81-43 loss at the hands of Pacifica. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1042nd, while the Mariners are ranked 427th).

Meanwhile, Rancho Alamitos suffered their biggest defeat since November 25th on Friday. They took a blow against Tarbut V' Torah, falling 77-38. The Vaqueros were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-18.

Westminster's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Rancho Alamitos, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-13.

Westminster didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Rancho Alamitos in their previous matchup back in November, but they still walked away with a 66-62 win.
