Basketball Recap: Clifton Central Snags Ninth Win in Last 11 Games

Clifton Central won against Grant Park last Thursday with 50 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Monday. The Clifton Central Comets took down the Momence Momence Athletics 50-36. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 50-31 victory back in December of 2024.

Momence lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Mya Roberson, who dropped a double-double with 11 points and 12 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of A Miracle Johnson, who posted eight points and four steals.

Clifton Central has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.1 points over those games. As for Momence, their loss dropped their record down to 10-13.

Looking ahead, Clifton Central will host Tri-Point at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Tri-Point will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something Clifton Central surely won't give up without a fight. As for Momence, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Illinois Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Momence is facing Illinois Lutheran at the right time seeing as Illinois Lutheran is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
