Baseball Recap: Darlington Falcons vs. Cheraw Braves

Darlington extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping their season record down to 5-11 in the process. They lost 12-1 to the Cheraw Braves. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Braves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-0 back in March.

Darlington saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brady Zigler, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double was Zigler's first of the season.

As for Cheraw, the victory (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 20-3. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7.8 runs.

On Cheraw's side, they got a big performance out of Will Quick, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Demaris Ellerbe, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Coming up, Darlington is taking a road trip to face off against Marlboro County at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cheraw, they will host Gray Collegiate Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Braves 2.4, the War Eagles 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
