Baseball Recap: Oakville Comes Up Short

Oakville lost against Ocosta back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Acorns came up short against the Wildcats, falling 16-6. The Acorns' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Koner Burnett made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. James Shields also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Oakville's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Ocosta, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-7.

Looking ahead, Oakville will take on Wahkiakum at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Acorns' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mules have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Ocosta, they will face off against Raymond/South Bend at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Ravens have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.3 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
