Southwest Guilford had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They pulled ahead with a 59-58 photo finish over the High Point Central Bison on Friday. The Cowboys have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bison, too.

High Point Central lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Jayden Velez, who posted 22 points. Isiah Lockhart was another key player, putting up 15 points and five rebounds.

High Point Central's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Southwest Guilford wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 62-60 loss against Rabun Gap-Nacoochee on the 29th. As for High Point Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 79-48 win against High Point Christian Academy on the 29th.
