Basketball Recap: Lumberton Pirates vs. Jack Britt Buccaneers
The Lumberton Pirates entered their tilt with the Jack Britt Buccaneers with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Lumberton walked away with a 46-33 victory over the Buccaneers on Tuesday. The score was all tied up 20-20 at the break, but Lumberton was the better team in the second half.
It was another big night for Jaiden Shephard, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Shephard is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. Dimetrious Jones was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with two steals.
Several Buccaneers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Michael Tubbs, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds. Tubbs is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Lord, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Lumberton has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 10-7 record this season. As for Jack Britt, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-7.
Lumberton will take on the Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully South View focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday. As for Jack Britt, they will head out on the road to challenge the Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Purnell Swett is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home.
