Softball Recap: Point Arena Takes a Loss

Point Arena dropped to 6-7 on Thursday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Willits Wolverines, falling 12-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolverines this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-0 back in March.

Alexa Ferreyra was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

As for Willits, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-5. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won 11 matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.

On Willits' side, Lisa Arkelian made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. Arkelian was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Willits got a big performance out of Addie Jones, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. Alexandra Ramos was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Point Arena will take on rival Potter Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Willits is set to challenge their familiar foe Credo at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
