Softball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Northeast Jones' Eighth in Last Ten Outings

Northeast Jones won the last time they faced West Jones and things went their way on Thursday too. The Northeast Jones Tigers put the hurt on the West Jones Mustangs with a sharp 14-3 win. Considering the Tigers have won seven contests by more than nine runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Caroline Myrick made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Myrick was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Taylor Landrum was excellent, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. Another player making a difference was Alex Whigham, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

Northeast Jones is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-3-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. West Jones is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10-1.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northeast Jones will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Forest at 6:30 p.m. on March 25th. West Jones will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against Stringer at 5:00 p.m. on March 25th.
